St. Mary’s National School is a State Primary School.
We operate under the auspices of the Department of Education and Skills (D.E.S.) and under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Meath.
We are a co-educational school catering for the town of Ashbourne and surrounding areas.
We currently have 18 mainstream classes, i.e. 3 each of Junior and Senior Infant classes and 2 each of 1st to 6th classes.
The language of instruction is English, with a strong commitment to the use of the Irish language and the promotion of our Irish cultural and sporting traditions.
Roll Number: 19768U
St. Mary’s N.S. was founded in 1981 due to a rapidly increasing population in Ashbourne at that time and the need for further primary school places. The school started out in the old school buildings on the church grounds and subsequently moved to prefabs alongside St. Declan’s N.S.
We moved to our current site in 1986, following the construction of a new school building. In 2012 our facilities were enhanced with the construction of a new two-storey 6-classroom block with resource rooms and a lift.
